Botox a purified form of botulinum toxin that is used to reduce wrinkles and produce a more youthful appearance to the skin. It is an affordable, safe and effective procedure to treat signs of aging. Botox is commonly injected around the eyes or “crows feet”, for forehead lines, or the lines between the eyebrows. It’s no surprise that Botox has become the most popular non-surgical treatment for facial rejuvenation due to its ability to provide excellent results.
Botox is an excellent adjunct to many other cosmetic procedures that we offer at New Tampa Plastic Surgery. Our goal is to produce a natural appearing result without creating an overdone or frozen appearance.
Reasons for Considering Botox in Tampa:
Facial lines and wrinkles.
Prominent frown lines between the eyebrows.
Wrinkles adjacent to the eyes known as crows feet.
Horizontal wrinkles across the forehead.
Desire for a more youthful, refreshed look.
The Botox Treatment
The mechanism of action for Botox is to block the impulses from nerves to their corresponding facial muscles which results in a relaxing of the muscles. Once the muscles are relaxed, the skin will become smoother.
During your consultation, we will assess muscle activity in the desired treatment area to ensure that a satisfactory result is achieved. Botox is delivered in units and is injected using a tiny needle making the procedure very well tolerated. Your anatomy and muscle tone will determine how many units are required to treat a given area.
Botox assessment and treatment may be completed in a short consultation. Patients are able to leave the office directly following treatment. The typical onset of action for Botox is 4-7 days with a full effect seen at two weeks. Treatment effects last approximately three to four months in which the procedure may then be repeated.
Recovery following Botox Treatment
There is generally no downtime associated with Botox treatments. Immediately following the procedure, patients are generally able to resume normal activities.
Occasional mild bruising may occur after the procedure. Patients are asked to avoid strenuous exercise, lying down, or applying makeup for four hours following treatment. It is also recommended to avoid massaging or compression of the treated site for twenty-four hours.
